OWNER/MANAGER  In 1985, Edith Bort arrived in the United States from Bolivia with the firm intention of fulfilling the "American dream". She lived, worked, and married in New York City, and in May 1995, Edith and her husband Alan formed The Association For the Safety of Disabled Persons (ASDP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving people with developmental disabilities. Their success flourished, leading them to relocate to Orlando, where they expanded their scope of service to include sanctuary care home options for the elder care community. As a bilingual service provider, 27 years later, the “BORT” family of homes (three in total) have become synonymous with quality sanctuary home care and exceptional service, always striving to ensure the best quality of life for all clients. With a background in finance from Bolivia, Edith continued her career in the finance arena until March 2018, when she formally retired from Florida Hospital, having served 14 years in an administrative capacity focusing on sanctuary senior living initiatives and The Sanctuary Assisted Living.

OWNER/ADMINISTRATOR In 2014, Marcia opened her first community, Serenity Adult Family Care Home, to provide a more person-centered approach to care for her Aunt Dorothy. This 5-bed community offered the one-on-one care our seniors so richly deserve, ensuring they are not lost in a crowd and that their specific needs and desires can be met. As the Owner/Administrator of The Sanctuary Assisted Living, she brings that same sincere and passionate approach that benefits not only the residents but also the families we are privileged to serve. With a Master’s in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Capella University (Summa cum Laude) and a BS in Marketing from Mary Mount College, Marcia is dedicated to enhancing sanctuary senior living. She is also the creator of SPILL THE BEANS, a signature training course offered through CEO CAREGIVER LLC for aspiring facility owners interested in providing sanctuary home care.

CAREGIVER After many years of being very independent and living on her own, my mother became ill and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I moved her into my home to provide sanctuary care, becoming her caregiver while working full time. Each day as her health deteriorated, I understood the importance of making the most of every moment at our personal sanctuary home care setup. I learned the significance of laughter and compassion during this time. Pauline entered the healthcare field inspired by her mom, discovering that she had the skills to provide care rooted in compassion and dedication. She looks forward to serving your family with the same commitment found at sanctuary senior living facilities. Alongside holding a CNA certification, Pauline’s education focuses on Office Management and Business Automation, equipping her to offer meaningful support, much like what you would find in the sanctuary assisted living environments.

As a single mom, developing patience has equipped me with a caregiver's heart. Since 2019, I have worked in various capacities, including at a sanctuary care home, and I am very passionate about treating people with respect. Whether in sanctuary home care or at a sanctuary senior living facility, my aim is to uphold a positive attitude, reflecting my optimistic nature. My goal is to create a safe space where anyone, especially our seniors, can feel supported and cared for, reminiscent of the warmth you would find in the sanctuary assisted living.
